FAQ:  Swallowed Teeth

Question:
Swallowed 3 teeth fixed bridge: I had a fixed bridge on my lower right jaw. Apparently it was loose because I was eating a piece of chicken, and the next thing I know the bridge is gone! I swallowed it.

Should I be concerned it will cause trouble in my digestive track? .... Visitor from NY

Answer:
Your bridge should "pass through" OK. You are not alone in swallowing tooth restorations.

Nonetheless, it would be wise to advise your family physician of the event and perhaps reduce physical activity until it has passed.
