Pediatric Dentistry FAQ Ask The Dentist Corinne Scalzitti Question:
Sedation Dentistry for 20 month old infant: My 20 month old daughter fell several months ago.

We had to have her front tooth extracted because it was broken in half. I don't want to put her through another visit without some type of sedation.

Can she be sedated at the age of 2 years old? What are the risks? She is very healthy. ...Visitor from GA

Your child can be safely sedated at this age.

I would see a pedodontist (pediatric dentist). They do it all the time with children.

Or, if the dentist has any doubts, you can have an anesthesiologist go to the dental office and do the sedation while the dentist performs the procedure.

Any city as large as Savannah should have people who travel to offices for this.

Hope this helps. Just make sure you find somebody with a lot of experience who is comfortable with this.
