Question:
Tooth gap options Hello, I have had braces for just about three years and I have had oral surgery three times already.

I have two impacted canines and one is visible and has a bracket on it. The second one is still in my gums and I am left with a gap on the right side of my mouth from having the canine still in my gums and a tooth recently removed.

I'm a fifteen year old female and the gap is causing me a lot of insecurities and I start school soon. Is there anything that I can ask my orthodontist to use to fill the gap until the canine comes down? ... Visitor from New Jersey

Answer:
A common, temporary, treatment for a missing tooth is the use of a "one tooth flipper."

Dental implant patients often use one while waiting for an implant or tissues to heal. They protect the tissue areas.

They are designed to be removed while eating. An implant dentist would be a good resource to consult with if your orthodontist doesn't use them in his/her practice.
