Dental Implants Ask The Dentist Corinne Scalzitti Question:
Implants make my mouth feel stretched: I've had expensive implants for 5 years.

I hate them. I have a small mouth and they kill me. I have no life because of this. I feel like my mouth is stretched to the max.

What can i do? ...Visitor from KY

I am sorry to hear of your problems. My guess is that your implants open your mouth too wide and cause problems with your bite, your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the muscles of your mouth.

I would suggest that you see a neuromuscular dentist. One of the finest training centers for this is the Las Vegas Institute (LVI). Find a dentist who has taken extensive courses, especially in occlusion.

You may need to work with a team of dentists and may need to have your present implants removed. I will hope that another dentist can redo the crowns on the implants and restore the vertical dimension of your bite to its proper level.
