Can an oral surgeon check to see if my bone is good enough for an implant before the tooth is removed?
I currently have a crown, but when it was removed my dentist said repair wasn't possible to save the tooth.
I don't want to go ahead and have the tooth removed unless I can have an implant, not a bridge. I had the existing crown put back on the tooth, but the tooth is uncomfortable. ... Visitor from Oxford UK
Yes... find an oral surgeon or Periodontist who has access to a cone beam ctscan. 3D imagery
will do a good job of revealing tissue quantity, integrity and overall health 3 dimensionally.
Unlike old fashioned dental xrays, ctscans are easy to understand and the images are fairly sharp. Bone integrity involving that tooth should be easily evaluated. It is likely you will have a choice of treatment options.
