Braces and bone loss: I have a gap between my two front teeth. I am scheduled to get braces next week.
I have 30% bone loss with one of my front teeth due to periodontal disease. Will my tooth fall out? I have the disease under control now, but I'm so afraid of losing my tooth. ... Visitor from Lancaster
It would be a good idea to get a consult with an "expert" on oral tissues.... namely a Periodontist.
30% bone loss is significant. Some dentists would not recommend ortho treatment until ALL instances of gum disease are eliminated. Being "controlled" is not sufficient..
A primary concern is the amount of bone loss, current state of periodontal attachment and current soft tissue quantity associated with the compromised tooth.
