Question:
Braces make Bucked Teeth straight? I am a 24 year old female inquiring about braces.

I would like to know if I get braces because I have an overbite (bucked teeth) and a gap will it make my teeth straight?

How soon will I notice a diffrence? When will the teeth start to shift? Do they hurt and what to expect. ...Visitor from GA

Answer:
There is no question that braces will help straighten your teeth, however your overbite may be a result of your lower jaw bone being setback in relationship to the upper jaw.

You would need to seek a consultation to determine a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

As far as your gap and initial straightening, you will notice a difference within the first 8-10 weeks. And yes, initially you will have some discomfort, but nothing that can't be managed with over-the-counter pain medication.

The initial discomfort may last approximately 5-7 days when you first get your braces on and some minor discomfort after each adjustment. You will get to a point when you rarely even know you have them on.
