Question:
Open bite fixed with orthodontist: I had my open bite fixed by an orthodontist.

I had 4 premolars extracted. The open bite is fixed, but now my facial profile has changed drastically.

I look like a chipmunk when I talk. I am also Asian. Is there anything I can do to change it? ....Visitor from CA

Answer:
When teeth are extracted and braces are used to close the spaces the results can be a big improvement.

Sometimes, depending on facial growth during treatment, the results can be questionable. It can be difficult to predict results when the growth of the patient is not predictable.

Are your lips long or short, thick or thin? Is your jaw position coordinated with your TMJ joint? How long are your teeth?

Plus there are many other questions that need to be answered to determine the possible solutions to your problem.

My suggestion is to get a complete evaluation to determine your choices by a bite reconstruction dentist. There are a lot of things you can do to change your profile.
