Six (6) Anterior Teeth Bonding

    Question:
Ugly spaces between veneers: I had 6 veneers placed over my top front teeth about 5 years ago.

I now notice that the natural tooth is visible between the teeth. It looks as though I need to floss very badly.

I was wondering if a dentist would be able to sand this down. If not, would I be able to get new veneers? ... Visitor from CT

    Answer:
It is really impossible to know exactly what needs to be done without seeing the situation but in general:
    1. Sometimes we can carefully refine between the veneer and the tooth structure and remove the staining or discolorations that you see.

    2. Sometimes we can bleach the tooth structure so it does not show. The teeth themselves my have gotten a little darker where as the veneer material will not.

    3. Finally it is usually possible to remove the veneer and replace it with another cosmetic veneer solution. To avoid the discoloration thing again, we wrap the edge, or tuck the veneer "around the corner" of the tooth to hide the tooth structure or the interface of the veneer and the tooth.

Veneers have gotten better and more refined with even better materials. The great thing about cosmetic dentistry......there is always a solution and a way to create a beautiful smile.
