    Question:
I had 4 front full veneers installed because I hated the gap and my teeth were small. Since the procdure, I have had significant anxiety.

They promised me the color would be the EXACT same and they would feel JUST as natural as my other teeth. They didn't tell me that porcelain is inherantly a different color than tooth enamel and 100% color matching is not possible.

At this point, I don't know what to do. I am really scared that I will be unhappy for the rest of my life and this procedure was the wrong idea! ...Visitor from TN

    Answer:
It sounds like you had veneer treatment without the use of temporaries... which is considered by many veneer specialists to be the "standard" protocol for veneer dentistry.

By using temporaries for 1-2-3 weeks... you have the chance to create and fine tune the final look you want... best sizing, best appearance, best fit and bite and perfect color matching.

Promises don't hold up much... because there are too many people involved in the creation of your veneers.

Some dentists will eliminate a step or two (including the use of temporaries) to reduce costs and also have the opportunity to "sell" veneer treatments at a lower price point, compared with other dentists who follow the standard treatment protocol.

Nonetheless, if you feel you didn't receive what you were "told" you would receive, contact your state dental board for assistance.
