An Endodontist is a specialist who has completed advanced root canal training after graduating from dental school.
However primary care/ general dentists who have the skill, advanced endodontic training and perform a routine number of root canal treatments each month, are also very capable of completing their patients endodontic treatment.
For very difficult teeth or advanced retreatment or surgical apicoectomy treatment, many general dentists prefer to refer these cases out to an Endodontist.
