A periodontist is a specialist who focuses primarily on the supportive and connective tissues involved in maintaining optimal health and normal dental function of a patient's dentition.
Some of the common procedures most popularly associated with periodontists is treatment for various types of gum disease or lesions, dental implant surgery, and tissue grafting (both bone and soft tissues) that may be needed as a result of genetic defect, injury, trauma, disease or other compromised oral health issues.
