James L. Sanderson, Jr., D.M.D., is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. A native of Birmingham, Dr. Sanderson is active throughout the greater Birmingham Community both professionally and personally. He was a member of the 1978 National Champion football team for the University of Alabama. His father was a member of the first graduating class of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham.

He lectures throughout the community and country on topics such as esthetic dentistry, dentistry in athletics, lasers in dentistry, and other topics. In addition, Dr. Sanderson works with many athletic endeavors throughout the community.

He maintains a full time practice in Birmingham, Alabama where he concentrates on listening to his patients and providing them with the very best of his ability and the latest in technological improvements to his profession which he loves.

Dr. Sanderson has a very high tech office which includes:

Digital Photography, 35mm photography, intra-oral cameras and aesthetic simulation
Digital Radiography which uses 75 to 90% less radiation than conventional radiographs and it has much better diagnostic value to us than conventional film radiography
High speed and deep curing lights to set the materials we use more efficiently
Lasers and Micro-abrasion. We use both hard and soft tissue lasers in our office. These lasers allow us to be much more precise when treating you. Many times we can use the laser and we do not have a need for anaesthesia, or the drill when we are doing many of our procedures. This means there is a much faster recovery time from the procedures that he is able to perform with the lasers
Recently we have added to our treatment modalities the placement of immediately loading implants. We have been using implants for 18 years but this will be a big help in certain circumstances

Dr. Sanderson serves on a number of committees for various community organizations. He is a member of The Church at Brook Hills. He and his wife, Katrina, live in Hoover with their three daughters, Sara, Emily, and Jill.

Dental Laser Training is also provided by Dr. Sanderson to individual dentists and group practices, both nationally and internationally.
