FAQ:  Dental Inlays

Gold Inlay: What is the best drill type to reduce a gold inlay?

Are there any other tools to use, and should my dentist be struggling on my third appointment to reduce the gold level of the inlay?

The vibration of the drill he uses is now depressing me! ...Visitor from Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom

It sounds like you are pretty frustrated with the entire process. Every dentist has almost the exact same sets of dental drill bits or burs. They are either carbide burs or diamonds.

We all use them routinely. They all cut and specifically through or on gold, almost equally well.

Unfortunately, I have no more help here for you unless there is more that you are not mentioning. Good luck!
