I am a very positive woman and have accepted the consequences involved with wearing dentures. However, after five months of which I have needed to use fixodent adhesive to keep my bottoms in place, there is STILL so much gum discomfort and soreness.
I remove them at night, rinse my gums with warm, salt water, clean and keep the dentures looking good. But there never seems to be "comfort" in wearing them, because the gums always feel sore and sometimes even painful.
Please let me know if there is something I can do to "harden" my gums; perhaps "cure" them so that I may enjoy wearing my dentures. ... Visitor from CA
Wearing lower dentures is never enjoyable. The best fix for a sore lower denture and the best way to provide a hard platform for your dentures is to have a surgeon place dental implants.
The implants are solid titanium rods placed solidly in your jawbone. The denture can rest on the solid bar and actually snap onto it. If you want, you can even be rid of your denture and have solid bridgework attached to implants which is not removable but stays in your mouth just like real teeth!!
