Answer:
While top braces are not NECESSARY when lower braces are placed, they are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. This is due to the fact that the top teeth need to fit into the bottom teeth.
If you move the bottom teeth only, you will find that your bite just doesn't fit right. Its like trying to fit a perfectly square peg into a perfectly round slot. They both may look perfect, but they fit terrible.
Teeth aren't just for looks. They must also function well!
